The 1887 Log Cabin
Main Residence — Fully Remodeled
Architectural Description
The original 1887 Knottley Brothers hand-hewn redwood log cabin — one of only 11 surviving structures of its kind in Big Sur — is preserved on the exterior while being completely transformed within. The floor is lowered 4–5 feet, creating soaring 12-foot ceilings. A full concrete slab is poured beneath the structure over the earth. Floor-to-ceiling glass opens the canyon-facing wall to the redwood forest. Polished concrete floors, a chef's kitchen with stone countertops, and a central fireplace anchor the great room.
